PdfMasher

PdfMasher is capable of transforming PDF documents into EPUB and MOBI files for your ebook reader. While there is no shortage of such conversion utilities on the Internet, PdfMasher is among the very few that allow you to manipulate the PDF's contents before converting. The application is offered free of charge, for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux operating systems and it can be installed in a matter of seconds.

Converting a PDF is quite easy and it doesn't involve any effort, but you can do much more before converting anything. Once you import a PDF, all text elements will show up in a list, along with various details, like corresponding page number, order, font size, text length or their current state. Each element can be selected and marked as normal, title, footnote and so on, by clicking one of the buttons, next to the aforementioned list.

PdfMasher will handle each text element differently, depending on how you mark them. For example, if you don't want certain paragraphs, titles or footnotes to appear in your output file, you can simply mark them as ignored. To make everything easier, the application provides a page preview as well, with a rough representation of all text items and their layout.

When your work is complete, you may generate and edit a markdown and view it in HTML format as well. Finally, you only need to choose an output format and a destination folder to start converting the PDF.
